Bemisal Bihar

जहाँ हर मिट्टी में एक कहानी है

We are Bemisal Bihar. Bemisal means a thing with no equal, and we say it about this soil. हर कहानी में बिहार। People, places, possibilities.

Bodh Gaya, small enough to hold.

What we mean

We tell Bihar from inside it. A festival before dawn. A language still in the mouth. A sweet on a steel plate. A river in flood. A woman who can cross her own city without fear. The same mitti holds all of that, and we keep the pictures in one place so the idea stays whole.

People, places, possibilities. Three words we print on our work, because they are the work. Explore. Discover. Celebrate. Then stay for the season when celebration is the harder job.

  1. People

The ones on the road at evening, the hands on the grass, the voice on Chhath morning.

  2. Places

Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Mithila, the ghat. A place you can carry home in a kulhad.

  3. Possibilities

Names the soil already earned. Food, cloth, Bhojpuri, Dinkar, and the map when the water rises.

People

We made this picture because we know the road. She has a stick. He walks half a step with her. The poles and the trees are ordinary. The relationship is the point. यही तो है अपना बिहार।

The same belief covers the street after dark. A Bemisal Bihar is one where every woman can live, move, and dream without fear. Safety belongs to everyone. It is a right, and keeping it is everybody's work. We say that next to Bihar Police and the home department, in public, on purpose.

Places

We like a place you can name from across the room, and we still write it down, so a child growing up away from home can point and say it.

Rajgir. Some journeys are printed differently.
A Mithila painting of a woman and flowers, opening onto a village pond and houses with painted walls.
Mithila. When art becomes a place.
Chhath at sunset seen through a bamboo basket, with fruit, sugarcane, a diya, and people standing in the river.
Chhath. Some traditions lead you home.

What endures

The soil already has a register. We say the names so they travel with the people who grow them and stitch them. Magahi paan. Mithila makhana. Jardalu of Bhagalpur. Katarni rice. Silao khaja. Shahi litchi of Muzaffarpur. Sujini. Khatwa. Bawanbuti of Nalanda. Bihar ki pehchaan, hamari shaan.

Moonj is grass, coiled by Tharu hands in the Terai, into baskets a house actually uses. Bhojpuri is a language, a heritage, and an identity, and we still ask which word you love, because that answer belongs to you. On 23 September we come back to Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. याचना नहीं, अब रण होगा।

When the rivers rise we print the map. Ganga and Kosi above the danger line. Sultanganj, Kahalgaon, Patna, Bhagalpur, and the districts in between. The water leaves. Standing with people does not. Discover Bihar. Discover what endures.
